Wonderful story telling and those who love adventures novel should go for it

“Maybe there is a beast… maybe it's only us.” Thought-provoking. Grotesque. A hard book to rate although it is a very thought provoking book. I think the concept and the story itself was really really good but the writing seemed a little bit plain also there were too many landscape descriptions for my taste, especially for such a small book and the dialogues were so confusing that I was sometimes wondering which one of the boys is speaking right now. The premise had so much potential, Golding could have done so much it, but he seemed much more interested in penning a pedagogic novel than a captivating story -more concerned with showing the barbaric nature of society than in fleshing out many relevant details. So much was simply glossed over. Sadly, the story itself wasn’t all that compelling until the final three chapters. Although this was a thought-provoking allegory with a chilling message, it lacked the depth of character and attention to detail which make for a truly great novel.

This is the replacement btw, both the original and replacement had bad page cuts, and damaged cover. The pages within are not properly aligned. There is no refund option either, only replacement. I suggest getting this book from some other publisher/seller. Didn't expect this from Penguin.

Perfect edition and extremely happy with the condition of the book. Highly recommend buying books from this seller Land of stories as they take extremely good care of the books

Je ne l'ai pas encore lu, je suis déçue car le livre est arrivé légèrement abimé sur un angle. L'édition en elle-même est très belle, façon journal assemblé, et la couverture n'a pas son pareil!

I’ve seen many so-so copies of Lord of the Flies, but this copy really made me want to read it. If anyone wants to buy a copy of the book, this is the best version in my opinion.
