Great product, until it rips wide open!
This was my first time using a rooftop cargo carrier, and I was full of nerves! We bought this carrier for 640+ mile trip from TX to AL during the summer. As this was my first time using such a product, every little noise made me nervous as all I could imagine was the whole rack unbuckling and flying off the back of the roof and onto someone's windshield. So much to my wife's chagrin, I pulled over like 6 times during the first 2 hours of our trip. Finally, I developed confidence in the product and finished the drive without all the checking (except when we stopped for gas). The outbound trip went off without a hitch. However, it was on the return trip that this carrier lived up to the negative reviews.I noticed a small tear during a gas stop, and immediately grabbed some tape from the store to patch it...because again, even if the carrier stayed in place, I didn't want the stuff inside flying out all over the road as I imagined the carrier was only going to rip more and more during the trip. Everything pretty much stayed in place with the help of the tape, but by the time we arrived home, the product had ripped in other places.I'd recommend this carrier if you plan to only ever transport soft materials with no edges. But if you plan to transport the things most people want such a carrier for, don't bother.

Stays in place very well, not truly waterproof
UPDATED: This was a decent cargo carrier. It stayed in place really well. We used it on a ‘13 Dodge Journey that only had the side luggage rail and no cross bars. I did have to retighten the straps when we stopped for gas, but it was maybe only an inch or so on each strap. Nothing that was of concern. We also purchased an anti slip mat to go underneath. WARNING: if you’re driving through any considerable amount of rain, wrap your items. On the second leg of our trip (Virginia to Maine) we had rain almost the entire day. The problem is ther is no Velcro on the flap that covers the zipper on the front edge of the bag. Not everything was wet, but quite a bit and we had to throw a lot stuff in the dryer after we unpacked. My biggest complaint is the zipper comes across the front on each side about three inches. So with the zipper flap being flipped up all the time, water got into the bag. Also everytime I stopped I put the flap back down, but I’m sure it was flipped up almost immediately. Water literally poured out as I pulled the bag off the top of the car. On our way home we will definitely put everything in large trash bags for extra protection. On the second leg of our trip from Maine back to Florida, I noticed the stitching around the Velcro to hold the flap over the zipper down had started to come undone. Overall, this will hold up for a 3,000 mile road trip, but be sure to wrap you items so they fit get wet in the rain.

Survived a trip across the US
Drove from Kentucky to Washington State over a 3 day trip through rain, wind, and snow and this bag held up really nicely. The fact this thing kept our clothes dry with all the exposure it was under still blows my mind, it also holds SO MUCH. Fit like 2 full sized suitcases, and several huge trash-bags of clothes. You can get luggage locks to put on it so people cant just unzip it and take your stuff, but I don't think it would do that much if someone wanted in. My one and only complaint that i think they could improve on is the extra bit of strap you have after cinching it down will flop in the wind and hit your car over and over again, it can also get caught in your windows. The only way to avoid this is to stuff it under the roof bag, but after days and some bad wind it could come out and start again, and when your on the road for days, its unbearable listening to something slapping your car for hours lol. But it's not even worth taking a star off, this thing saved our butts, 5/5!

Not waterproof
I bought one of these to drive from WA to NH (3000 miles). I thought because we were driving in the middle of summer we would not encounter much rain. Well boy o boy we encountered rain almost everyday and unfortunetly this bag asborded it in. Thank god we vacuum sealed our clothes that we put in the bag or they would all be ruined after the cross country.So... If youre going to put things in this for more than a day... You gotta protect it from the rain... Also the bag will hold the water in, it seems the bottom is the most waterproof area. The bag did hold up well during the trip. Only complaint is the lack of weatherproofing.

Tore after the first use
First let me emphasize that the cargo capacity was perfect for my family of 6. It was an easy install. I was really hoping that the bad reviews on durability were an anomaly, but I’m afraid not in my case. We planned a week trip from Ohio to Philadelphia and Maryland. The bag held up the first leg of our trip, contents stayed nice and dry when we hit a heavy thunderstorm, but we discovered a tear in the fabric when we arrived in Maryland. Fortunately, the tear was on the bottom of the bag we were still able to use it for the ride home. I wasn’t planning on patching it up after 1 trip and I’m not sure how much mileage I’m going to get out of it. But for the price, it serves its purpose and kept our luggage safe and clean for this vacation.

Good bag for the price.
I did not find any instructions with the bag so i was not sure how to secure it. I viewed some YouTube videos on how to secure bag (different brands). The zipper needs to be in the back etc. and it should be behind the front bar of the roof rack. I thought the bag was sturdy and it kept our bags dry in the rain. I used the attached straps and, the extra shorter straps I attached to the handles just to make sure it was extra secure. The is an extra slot above each strap that i made sure to tie the left over loose strap so it would not whip around and make noise. I also used a couple of bungee chords that i used to make it extra secure. All in all I am pleased with the bag especially for the price. The brand of bag I received was Coocheer and it was made in China as it is stated on the side of the bag.
