This is an outstanding book, and is the best that I'm aware of in English on this subject, especially given the size limitations of the format. There's a lot packed into this little book. It's well written and certainly fills in the great gaps in my knowledge. Excellent illustrations throughout also. For anyone interested in this topic I see this as a 'must own'. Highly recommended.

As someone with an interest in many periods of history, I enjoyed this book very much. The use of first hand accounts gives a good feel for the period and the illustrations are excellent. The text is easy to read, and the many illustrations bring the period to life nicely. It is a great book to begin to get an insight into the life of these 16th century mercenaries.
