DISGUSTING FORMULA CHANGE -- WAS 5 STARS NOW 1 STAR
The media could not be loaded. UPDATE SEP 22 2015: CHANGE TO 1 STAR FROM 5Just opened my latest batch of the Vanilla Ice Cream flavor, and it is absolutely DISGUSTING. Today the formerly-creamy shake I made was so thick it was actually chewable, and so sickeningly sweet it made me sick to my stomach to even drink part of it. Several minutes later the sick sweet taste was still in my mouth making me gag. It turns out ON has changed the formula and it looks like they added Sucralose to this flavor among other changes. There are many recent complaints about widespread formula changes online, so buyer beware. You can see in the video just how thick it is. This drink is just 8oz cashew milk and 2 scoops of the Vanilla Ice Cream whey powder, mixed in a blender cup. Notice how thick it is when poured and how it sticks to the side of the blender cup. It took the spray nozzle around ten seconds just to break that clump apart. Do you want that nasty stuff in your stomach? Yesterday I made the exact same drink with my previous batch of powder and it was perfectly smooth and creamy just like milk, today it is toxic waste. From reading online it looks like this is the latest casualty of ON's marketing department changing their formulas across the board. Look up the reviews for their Naturally Flavored Vanilla protein to see what is happening. This is the single largest turnaround I have ever experienced in a product. The new product is disgusting, there is no other word for it.RECOMMENDATION: DO NOT BUY THIS BRAND ANY LONGER.ORIGINAL REVIEW: (5 stars)I've been using Optimum Nutrition's protein powder off and on for a few years now. "Off and on" because I kept aggravating old injuries when exercising, having to take extended time off, and practically starting all over again, wash, rinse, repeat. I started using this when I first starting lifting weights and it is simply amazing. The consistency is very fine, and when I've showed friends a small ziploc bag of it they have all remarked at how finely grained the powder actually is. Though it is marketed as a spoon-stirrable powder, I wasn't able to get it to work that way myself. Then again, I put 2 full scoops into 6-8oz of liquid to get the flavor and consistency I want, so maybe it was just too much. Regardless, while that may sound strong (and it is a good strong flavor at that concentration) it is NOT chunky, chalky, or grainy at all. The powder is shockingly good at dissolving in a quality shaker cup (with the mesh ball inside), and the double chocolate flavor was so good that it tasted just fine to me with 2 scoops in 6oz of cold water shaken up.Last time I ordered it however I decided to give the vanilla ice cream flavor a try. I'd been die-hard on the double chocolate for several years, but when I got a small bullet-style blender I found it really restricts the kind of protein drinks you can make. You can have any flavor you want as long as its chocolate or chocolate-plus-something. So I bought a 1lb container of vanilla ice cream as a cheap test figuring it couldn't hurt and would probably be good enough that even if I didn't like it I could tolerate it for a little while until it ran out.I was greatly surprised at how good it actually tasted -- far better than the chocolate in fact, and I'm a die-hard chocoholic! I never blended it with water because I've since switched to almond milk, almond-coconut milk blend, or even cashew milk, all of which run in the 30-45 calorie range for 8oz and add so much creaminess and a nice mild nutty flavor that really enhances the drink. Put 8oz of the nut milk into the bullet blender with 2 scoops of powder and most of a banana, and you have an incredibly delicious drink with nearly 50g of protein and all the nutrition of a banana for about 300 deliciously smooth and creamy calories or so.And the best part is there are so many more things you can mix with it because the vanilla flavor, while sweet and tasty on its own, blends very well with other flavors as well. Want chocolate? Sprinkle in a bit of chocolate powder, or a little gourmet hot chocolate powder, or a small bit of chocolate pudding powder, or if you don't mind the calories toss in a cold Jello pudding pack of your choice and blend it right up -- so many more options than plain chocolate protein powder provides. Or you can add a fruit medley for a completely different drink -- fresh, or frozen to replace the ice in the blender for an icy smoothie. Put in a teaspoon or two of instant coffee of the flavor of your choice to add a flavored caffeine kick. Or put in a spoonful of powdered peanut butter, very low-cal and tastes just like 250 calories of the real deal, and if you add in the chocolate you made a high-protein low-cal Reese's shake/smoothie to boot.I really can't say enough about this stuff, it is truly outstanding. I've tried all of the above and each works very well. The vanilla ice cream flavor is strong enough to taste great on its own (just it and the nut milk) but subtle enough to fade into the background when mixed with other ingredients. The ultimate verdict came from my wife, whose face lit up when she first tasted one of the shakes -- she thought I made her a tasty dessert, not a low-cal high-protein powerhouse. :)

New to Whey, OK Taste
I started taking whey protein because I began working out in April 2013 (have lost 24 lbs to date) and wanted to start building muscle. In my experience, the mix doesn't blend quite as well as I had hoped. I get chunks stuck to the side of my blender and end up having to scrape it off with a knife or spoon. If you are going to mix it by hand, do it in half scoops because you'll get lumps on the bottom. I have noticed that it helps control my hunger and suppresses my appetite. The taste is OK. I read the reviews and ordered this flavor because it was supposed to be the "better tasting" of the bunch. I am not a big fan of the taste. It smells AMAZING, though. I have learned how to mask the flavor. I take two large bananas, 1/4 cup ice, 1.5 cups of 2% milk and a scoop of whey and blend it all together. It tastes really good that way, and you can barely taste the product. I had to switch to 2% because the skim wasn't masking the whey flavor. It does get easier to drink the longer you start drinking it.I will probably order it again. If anyone else has any delicious ways to mix this up, let me know.

EASY ON THE TUMMY!!!!!!
This product is WONDERFUL! I've tried soooo many whey proteins that have totally irritated my tummy beyond belief. It has been costly to try these various brands in order to find one that doesn't leave me buckled over in pain. I've been an avid Muscle Milk Light user because it was easy on the stomach and was good with recovery. I recently read some of the reviews on it and it contains metals along with extra fat & other ingredients that I don't want in my body. I work out 5 - 6 times a week. A lot of strength training, deadlifting, bench pressing, etc. So, I need a protein that will be good for my body, speed the recovery process and is easy on my system. When I received the product I made a smoothie out of it. I was amazed to see how easily it blended in with my soy milk and fruit. ZERO lumps which I loved. A lot of these products leave chunks and clumps in your cup. Not this one! With hesitation, I drank it and it was DELISH! I waited to see if it was going to jam me up. Low and behold it didn't. No rolling tummy or frequent potty breaks. If my gains and recovery are up to par. I will be a customer for life!!

Best Darn Whey Protein Powder on Amazon!
I really like this protein powder above all other's I've tried (and I've tested a lot!) It doesn't have that chalky taste like most other protein powders do, it mixes well with water or milk and it isn't too costly. I actually mix 1 scoop of ON 100% Whey Protein with a cup of milk and add my favorite cereal for a protein packing breakfast. I ordered a 1 pound container which arrived on time. The plastic container did contain a pound of powder but due to the settling during shipping, the container was only 3/4 full. This is normal. I found the plastic scoop at the very bottom of the container. Don't expect consuming this (or any protein powder) will create huge muscles like when Popeye eats his spinach! LOL (You got to earn/work for those) But, this is a good way to increase your protein intake without substantiality increasing your caloric intake. It's a great meal replacement/supplement. Vanilla Ice Cream is by far the best tasting! (IMHO)

... because I’m a very clean eater and I don’t like things that taste synthetic
I’m picky when it comes to protein powders because I’m a very clean eater and I don’t like things that taste synthetic. This one was not offensive and tasted good. I deducted one star because it didn’t have as much chocolate flavor as I would like but I could add cocoa powder to make it stronger if I wanted. It doesn’t quite fulfill my chocolate craving but it makes me feel full which is important. It tastes good mixed with just water and it mixes easily with just a spoon which is very convenient when you are in a hurry.I would purchase this again.

but the taste was good. Also
Didn't fully dissolve in my smoothies that I would blend in my Magic Bullet, but the taste was good. Also, it was smaller than I expected.
