How to Raise a Jewish Dog

funny and useful
this book is funny but also has good points. my dog is now jewish, or chewish...either way she's a good girl, she was always a good girl but now i appreciate her personality more and give her more freedom to be a dog and not listen sometimes. i now read my bible out loud for her sake and she always lays down at my feet and falls asleep. actually, now i read most things aloud now and she lays down by my feet, even when i go to my elderly parents house to read to them she will lay down and fall asleep.best of all, you can tell she just loves being told she's such a good girl and the false exercise was a good laugh

So, it's a wonderful book already!
This book reminds me of 'How to be a Jewish mother ', a book I was awarded some 50 years ago by my Jewish neighbors. This book will help you while away the time while waiting for your new lapdog to wake up and get off your lap, so you can unparallize your legs, or anytime life has got you down. It's bound to make you chuckle out loud! Many thanks to the BRTS (see author) for their illuminating work.

HOW TO RAISE A JEWISH DOG by Ellis Weiner and Barbara DavilmanJanuary 21, 2008This book was way too funny! HOW TO RAISE A JEWISH DOG is a manual that teaches us all how to raise our dogs Jewish. In Chapter 1, the age-old question is brought up:"Why is a Jewish Dog different from all other dogs? A Jewish dog has three important traits that an ordinary dog doesn't have: an exaggerated sense of his own wonderfulness, an exaggerated sense of his own shortcomings, and an extremely close relationship with his master."This is a good indication of what the book is like, and for those who can't see the humor in this, then maybe this isn't the book for you. Filled with photographs and charts, it's a how-to for those who want to raise their dogs Jewish. I also discovered after reading this book that I'm definitely a Jewish woman -wanna be. Very scary, how much my behavior matched those depicted in the book. (My own conversations with Alice our cat, as I go on and on asking her, "Why you do this to me? Why? What did I do to you to make you behave this way?" is a clear-cut example of my Jewishness).I'm definitely recommending this book to those who can appreciate the humor. It certainly made my day.

Hilarious to the Tenth Power!
"How to Raise a Jewish Dog" is the funniest book I have ever read. The authors state in the beginning that you don't have to be Jewish to raise your dog Jewish. You also don't have to own a dog, but it will enhance your enjoyment to have one, have had one or want one. It also helps to understand a modicum (schmodicum) amount of Yiddish. But that is also unnecessary. There were times when I was laughing so hard I had to stop reading because I couldn't see the print on the page. If humor is the best medicine, and I truly believe it is, this book should go a long way toward curing just about any ailment.

Another priceless book by Ellis Weiner
While I was buying another copy of "Yiddish with Dick and Jane" as a gift, I thought of someone else to get a (very) early birthday gift for--a friend who is dog-crazy and very into Jewish humor--and, natch, chose "How to Raise a Jewish Dog" based on the other Amazon reviews. But it's SO early that I had it delivered to me, giving me a chance to peruse it in order to make sure it would make a suitable gift, ha ha. I've been having a wonderful time reading it, though I'm having trouble remembering that it is not mine to dog-ear, draw brackets and stars in, guffaw spittle onto, etc. Hilarious!

Funny and inspirational!
It's very funny and inspirational at the same time book. Authors are as sharp as a needle and understand not only dog's nature but also a human's need for dog's selfless love. They make fun of Jewish religion, human's weakness but they do it with love to all that crazy old world.

Definitely The Best Dog Training Manual, Ever!
This is a wonderfully profound and comprehensive work, for which the Rabbis of Boca Raton deserve our unconditional, conditional [sic] gratitude. If you want to raise a neurotic dog, you simply couldn't do better.than read this immaculately researched book. If you want some penetrating insights into the kind of person who would raise a Jewish dog, then you NEED to read this. And if you're an attention-seeker who's not worried about being labelled barking mad and being forcibly restrained, then you'll want to read this in a public place where your shrieks of laughter will garner you all the attention you could possibly want. You should buy it - all that laughter must be good for your heart!

jews love pets too, thanks for speaking up
Good pieces of advice to take on board. Very knowledgeable rabbis, of course. It's fun to read but is a sensible work which does make sense. Of course it is more about dog owners being Jewish than the dogs, but it goes a long way. Great, please carry on writing.
