Its effective blocking histamine in food that contains it, but it not a treatment so beware
I am 35yrs old and I had suffer 2 mayor allergy events in my life. The first time I had an allergy crysis was 8 years ago, it itched like hell and the only way I was able to get rid of the hives (I had nettle rash in 90% of my body), was using steroids for 3 months and Zyrtec for the itching. Since then, I has been healthy, til 2 months ago that I have had another hive crysis due to a combination of factors. After using 5 dosis of strong steroids I was looking for a subsitute that helped me to control my reaction in bad days, after doing some research I read about DOA suplement enzyme and I understood what It does and I believed it can help me blocking the new formation of histamine in my body to stop inyecting me steroids til a found an alternative treatment or solution. Well, I have to say that It is effective. The instructions says that you need to take 2 capsules 20 minutes after each histamine rich food, but as this is the first time to me using enzime supplemets I started with only 1 capsule. It has decreased the reaction at least 60%, the effectiveness of this pill is amazing. But beware, is not safe to play with your inmune system without medical supervision. After a couple of days, when I noticed that the strengh of the reaction were minimal, I decided to stop taking DAO, and I only took it when any food gave me a strong reaction or when I felt that I will get worse. Then I took 1 capsule of DAO AFTER eating the food, and the result were almost in real time, in 5-10 minutes the reaction stopped and the hives started to dissapear. All the allergies and individuals are different, but as a person that has fail in despair to find a solution, I wanted to share my experience with this DAO supplement and the allergy that produces hives in the skin, this is the only thing besides benadryl that Is able to stop the hives in my skin, and that is something. But, as I though, this DAO supplement is not a treatment, it's a palliative, and I was tired of dealing with the crysis, even having a strict diet of low-histamine food. I understood that the mastocites of our body were over reacting for some reason, and that reason was outside the reach of the DAO supplement. So in the meantime, I found a new allergy specialyst that started treating me. He explains me the risk of taking DAO without studying/treat the main cause of the allergy. He started to treat my respiratory system, and he supressed me the DAO suplement. I have been without reaction til now, but I keep this DAO suplement as an emergency plan if I ever have a relapse, it is effective attacking the cause, not the consequence. Nevertheless from now on, this DAO supplement is a must-have in my emergency resources.

Red Wine Headache Be Gone!!
I have been plagued with wine headaches the morning after having as little as one glass of red wine. This has been going on since I started drinking red wine in the late 1980s. I attributed these low level headaches, which last into the next evening, to an intolerance due to aging as I was in my mid-30s at the time. This condition has persisted to this day. I am allergic to NSAIDs and effectively had no options to treat or prevent this morning after headache. Frustrated, but accepting that this is how it is, I decided to Google "red wine headaches" and found that often they are explained as a sensitivity to histamine, which is abundant in red wine. I favor my reds with lots of tannins and a full body. Next I explored Amazon and came across Histamine Block. A few customers expressed similar side effects and were amazed by the outcome from using the product. The first 10 days I used the product as described - take 15 minutes prior to eating or drinking. It worked beautifully as I was headache free during these 10 days. An added benefit is that my doctor would tell me that alcohol later in the evening, prior to sleep, interferes with one's sleep causing a less than sound, uninterrupted rest. This was my experience, too, for these many years. Now I sleep through the night and am more refreshed and alert with a more positive outlook for the coming day. One caveat - on the 11th day I had one glass, but forgot to take Histamine Block until after I drank the red wine. The next morning I had my usual headache that lasted into the next evening. The lesson I learned from this is that it is a "blocker" of histamine, meaning it must precede the source of the histamine. It prevents it from affecting your system, but it must be there before the food or drink containing histamines. You may think this strange and an exaggeration, but this product has favorably changed my daily life. I have a passion for red wines and have had to weigh the consequences of having a glass of wine against what I must tend to the next day. I no longer am confronted with this question. It works!!

helps with food histimine issues
I have rosacea. Several years ago I noticed that my skin was getting very dry and flaky. Also my fingertips were getting so dry, that in the winter they would crack and bleed. Another issue I had was waking up in the middle of the night with a terribly dry mouth: I had a hard time getting saliva started at night. I was so thirsty during the day I would drink 10+ glasses a water every day, and still felt thirsty. It was like I had eaten cotton. I read a review on line about a rosacea product, and the reviewer mentioned that maybe his dry skin was related to food histamine. That review sent me researching all about food histamine and brought me to this product. It took several months to clean up my eating habits and get that excess histamine out of my system. Apparently our bodies are suppose to make a digestive enzyme called DAO, that helps to break down food histamine so our bodies can tolerate it. As we age or take certain medications, some bodies stop making enough DAO. This product helps to supplement that need. Its expensive. but worth it. I can now get by on just taking just one pill 2-3 times a week, and all my dry skin and thirst issues stay under control. But, if I miss a week or more, they start to come back. So I know this product works.

Small but noticeable difference with my non IgE mediated soy allergy when eating out.
I got this because I have a non IGE mediated soy allergy and MCAS. I take it when I am at a restaurant and suspect I might have some soy. I definitely notice a difference as far as if I take this versus if I don’t. As far as histamine goes, fighting release helps a little bit with whatever you’ve got. What I notice most is a slightly less scratchy throat, better GI tolerance, and a *little* less bloat. I like it enough that I have bought quite a few bottles and believe it’s worth a try.

Ironically, had a bad histamine reaction
I'm mean, it's not really a surprise given the fillers. Why shellac? I'm probably the most sensitive person alive due to a long standing chronic illness that has gradually brought my body to a place where I'm overwhelmed with histamine on a daily basis. I can only eat three foods and have been looking for answers for years. I finally figured out on my own (because docs seem clueless) that I have histamine intolerance and the reactions I have to foods fall exactly in line with having an over abundance of it. You can imagine how excited I was to try this product! I might actually get my life back. Nope. I started the way I always do with new supplements and opened the capsule to try only one of those tiny little beads you find inside. Five minutes later I'm reacting quite noticeably having all of my hallmark indications of a histamine reaction. Queasiness, itchiness, swelling sensation in throat among the most noticeable. Good thing I didn't take a whole pill. Since I know I've never been allergic to pork and the bottle says you don't even absorb the DAO in the first place I figure it must be a reaction to one of the fillers. The only ones I feel like I'm new to are the shallac crospovidone and carboxymethylcellulose. Seriously people, you want to help the ones who most desperately need this product and you use all this extra crap? I contacted Seeking Health customer service before I tried this product after reading the negative reviews to try and get some answers as to what might be causing the bad reactions and, of course, they could give me nothing but the generic "everyone reacts differently". Don't bother trying to get any real answers or speculation out of them or even a direction to follow where to find answers. So anyways, obviously I decided to take a chance with bad results. I even tried to break open one of the tiny balls to see if it would reveal the contents are separate and encapsulated in hopes that I could painstakingly weed out the actual DAO itself but it looks like it's all melted together...just in case anyone is as desperate as me to find a way to make it work XD. Unfortunately, I can only wait for a product to come out without all of the dangerous fillers as I've already whittled my diet down to three foods so the anti histamine diet is out for me. Seeking Health, don't bother to request I contact your customer service for help. I've done that and you didn't have a whole lot to offer so please just leave me alone until (or IF) you decide to figure out a way to offer us desperate people DAO without all extras our bodies can't handle. Thanks guys. Have a great day. Have fun eating whatever you want and enjoying life while I eat my Teff bread for the millionth time in my life and waste away in my bed. EDIT: For anyone who's interested. I've learned that you can essentially make your own DAO by growing pea sprouts and consuming them fresh and raw approx. after 10 days of germination. It's not hard to find out how to do this yourself online. I'm resorting to this. Feel free to ask for an update on this if you're curious. Today is 9/25/19 and my first batch won't be ready for a couple of weeks. UPDATE: For anyone who cares... I tested out a small amount of pea sprout and had the same reaction to it as I did this supplement SO, the only thing I can conclude is that it has something to do with my body's reaction to DAO itself. I can't think of a reason for why something that's supposed to lower histamine actually has the opposite reaction in my body. Symptoms were noticeable in my ease of breathing, throat swelling, nausea, dizziness and face tingling/itching. I did read a study on how the Catalase enzyme is supposed to help break down the byproducts of when histamine is broken down but since my reaction was so quick after hitting my stomach with both the peas and this supplement I'm not sure it has anything to do with a low level of Catalase in my body or anything like that. If I learn anything new I'll post it!

User error, it does help
I tried this as an alternative to Histame since it was supposedly stronger. Boy was I wrong! In addition to containing suspicious and unnecessary ingredients that I've reacted negatively to before, these pills failed to give relief from my high histamine symptoms. I'm glad it works for others. Since Histame is either discontinued or out of stock, I've just started taking Vitamin C (as ascorbic acid) to lower blood histamine levels. I use Nature's Way Buffered C-500. Vitamin C raises DAO and reduces blood histamine levels. There are clinical studies to prove it; just do your research. The only drawback is the potential for loose stools if you take too much ascorbic acid, so watch out for that. 1000 mg worked for me when I was having a histamine assault. If Vit. C doesn't work, try Amazing Herbs Nigella Sativa Oil (Black Seed Oil). It works when all others fail. Also, pea shoots/sprouts have DAO as well. I failed to grow my own pea shoots/sprouts at home, but a grocer had them. I just use a hand blender to create a green juice/smoothie. The pea sprouts aren't as effective as Histame, but they do add more DAO to my system. The Vitamin C has been a savior for me though. 2/1/17 update: I updated the review rating because it was my usage error that made it ineffective. Duh! You must take it exactly 15 minutes before eating the problem food to have a positive effect. Doing so did help, but I still don't like the weird ingredients. My apologies. I've found that acerola powder is a great source of vitamin C that doesn't cause loose stools at a high dosage. I buy the Mr. Ros brand and take from 2000 mg-4000 mg (4-8 tsp.) a day. I put the powder in water, add unrefined sugar, and it's a tasty juice. It's pricey at that dosage, so make the decision based on your own situation. I've also added white tea and holy basil tea to my weaponry against histamine intolerance. White tea is unfermented and has EGCG, which has been shown to block histamine. Holy basil is also good as a mast cell stabilizer. I drink two servings of the combo a day (1 tea bag of white tea w/2 tsp. of dried holy basil leaf per serving) in 8 oz. of hot water, steeped for 4 minutes. So far, so good.

Extremely effective for DAO deficiency coupled with histamine intolerance
This supplement is highly effective to break down the histamine that you’re eating. If you already have too much histamine in your bloodstream don’t expect it to do anything for that this is only for what you’re ingesting. A little bit about me if you are in a similar situation ...I have chronically elevated histamine following a food poisoning infection three years ago that became almost septic. This is very rare. An infectious disease doctor recently told me that it changed my body’s function and so now I have chronic histamine elevation. I also have an inability to break down histamine and I lack some ability to make a DAO. I had some bad mold exposures, causing me to develop an allergic reaction when I’m in hailing paprika and Bell peppers. Some histamine releasers are more severe for one person than for another. Anyhow since I’ve been using this supplement I noticed that what would be a bad reaction is lessened. I react (like an allergic reaction) when I’m inhaling paprika and bell peppers that are being eaten, cut, or cooked. Some histamine release triggers are more severe for one person than for another. Anyhow since I’ve been using that supplement I noticed that Food smells that would normally cause a lasting reaction seem to cause a less severe reaction that is more short lasting and doesn’t escalate into other things. Of course don’t expect this to apply to you. Don’t assume this is going to make you invincible if you have inhalation reactions like I do. I carry an EpiPen because it’s been that bad. I still wouldn’t walk into a restaurant but I think this is causing me to be less reactive to those small exposures. *4-2021: This product was a life giving save during mold exposure and after effects of a serious infection. My body was kept functional to handle daily life again from talking this. I no longer need this after leaving the mold, decontaminating belongings, throwing away almost everything i own, and detoxing. My histamine is tolerable and my allergic type reaction is also almost gone.
