KYB344480 Excel-G Gas Shock, Black , Silver

I installed these shocks on my 2012 Toyota Sienna XLE. The van had developed quite a few rattles and bumps that became unbearable. We even considered replacing the vehicle completely. I'm glad we didn't do that, because these shocks drastically improved ride quality and smoothness. I'm actually....shocked.Installation was NBD, took about 2 hours start to finish in my driveway. If you've never worked with jack stands and a good jack, go ahead and have someone professionally do this for you. This is somewhat of a varsity job as once the vehicle is on jack stands, you'll then need to use the jack to bring up each rear axle/wheel assembly individually. Can be intimidating if you've never done that.The original shocks were not even the right model number. SMH. Whoever worked on this van last (we bought it used- it now has 130,000 miles) used the wrong part number, so those shocks never worked as they should. These new ones have completely eliminated any road rattle or annoying bumps.

These are decent shock absorbers. They look almost identical to the stock ones on our van. We have a 2014 Toyota Sienna and these were super easy to install and I saved about $400 in labor. Ease of install will depend on your vehicle.

Thanks to all the reviewers above for really useful information. I got these and got them done for my 2006 Sienna LE today. Some of the lessons I learned that might be helpful for others:1. Definitely no need to take the tires off.I got the tip from the other reviewer, i.e no need to take the tire off. There is enough room to work under the minivan. There is really nothing blocking the work.2. Dry run with all your wrenches before actually taking things off.This is to make sure that you have the right tools before taking bolts off, so there is no need to put thing back together and run to shops to get right ones. :-) The most difficult part is to get the bolts on the lower end off, I probably would get an impact wrench had I known how hard it is. All the penetration oil I put over last three days did not get anywhere, based on what I see after I finally got the bolts off.3. The original plastic boots and top nuts are all fine to reuse, I did not use any of the small parts from the package except the shock itself.It took me about an hour and half to get everything done. Ride is clearly better, the original one on the driver side is completely shot. Quotes I got for install them mostly around $500, not bad that all can be done with $100 in parts + 90 minute time.Downside is that I need replace the front struts next.

The shock comes with a couple rubber bushings and a couple metal plates, and a set of blurry drawings and unclear instructions about how to install in various configurations. I emailed KYB, they responded immediately and with clearer drawing, and with some rapid back-and-forth they told me how to put the stack together. Installation into my 2008 Sienna Ltd AWD 7-seat was really easy (reusing the OEM dust shroud and its internal bumper), I didn't even need to put the car on jackstands. (I'm a smallish guy with an impact wrench :) ) Test drive shows it's good ... now we'll see about durability!

It was super easy to install. It took around 45 minutes per side since I've never done this to this van before. All new bushings were used. The old top hat was reused just cause I like how it looks. Ride quality is greatly improved and high freeway speeds are comfortable again. My 2004 Sienna jerked all over the road because one side was leaking and blown. The shocks would rebound at different rates and you could feel and see that while driving 60-70 MPH. I gladly bought the matching front struts to install next week when they arrive.Only thing I didn't mind for were the instructions. If you follow the pictures you'll quickly find that the assembly diagram for the bushings are incorrect. If you want to save 5 minutes, the old bushings and washers are perfectly fine to reuse.

Ty KYB for shipping this with an easy to cut & remove strap. I was able to do this install almost with one arm once I realized that the strap could help prevent me needing to compress the strut for install. Also, I didn't end up using the included bushings, washers or nuts. The original fittings and dust boot were still in good shape so I just reused them. Idk if not including them would have saved me/KYB some $, but it's a thought. Great fit!

Great part, exact fit for my 09 Sienna went with this one specifically because it is pictured as coming with new bushing but we're not included in the box.

I actually picked these up for my friends Toyota sienna. He was very happy compared to what the garage put in the front of his vehicle and has now decided to change the front ones to match , huge difference.

What is the box complectation? Mine arrived today with shock and nut only. No other washers or rubber bushings like it's on the photo.The shock doesn't seem like it's used or installed.
