Compressing this net.
Just like compressing any kind of hoop, grab handle in one hand and the hoop in the opposite hand and twist in opposite directions while moving hands towards each other. Presto! Nothing wrong with these nets, operator error. Great for traveling and storage.

Instructions incorrect.
The instructions say to make a figure 8 and push. That’s just wrong. You should really be pushing the net so it becomes wider then twist to make the coils. If you’re making a figure 8 you’re doing it wrong and the net will just want to fold and not coil. Also the actual net material seems cheap. If I bought this net again I’d get the one with thick plastic netting.Overall this net seems like a gimmick and unless you’re really pressed for space with your gear, just carrying a traditional non folding trout net beats this net all day.

light and good fishing net
I would like to recommend watching a folding instruction video on youtube before trying it.

works as described.
I've had mine for a few years. i still use it all the time river fishing for smallmouth bass. it took me a little to figure out the folding process, but it works great. once you get used to the 3 loop process its actually quite simple. I've seen pictures of mangled nets from people folding them wrong and claiming they don't work properly, but they do. if your having issues with the fold i recommend watching a video of someone folding it, not reading the directions.

Does not collapse
Took it out once, does not collapse. I've been sitting here trying to get it to work for 20 minutes, and I nor the person I'm with can get it to function correctly. I'm not sure If I got the one that doesn't work, but very frustrating!

Absolutely useless ! Doesn’t fold period !!
Handy oak is absolutely useless !! Once I opened this vintage foldable net it never wanted to fold into its original shape to pack down into the leather pouch I’ve tried for over 2 freaking hours and this thing does not want to coil up period and the netting is tearing apart after my numerous attempts to close the damn thing I would not recommend this company or product to ANYONE ! Seriously save yourself the money and headache and find an alternative this product does not work as advertised period !!! I Gave them the benefit of the doubt and tried and tried I watched numerous videos over and over and no matter what the net doesn’t fold at all so goodbye and good riddance I will never recommend this product to any friends or family and I hope you save your money as well
