The best Field Soldering Kit on the market
This is a very convenient and versatile multi-purpose soldering tool that is worth the extra cost. Pro's: 1. Very good range of temperature control coupled with many types of Soldering tips allow one to use it for applications ranging from heavy-gage wire soldering to fine-lead IC soldering. Very easy to change tips. Good supply of various tip sizes. 2. Iron-coated solder tips are durable. 3. Butane enables very fast warmup for field use. 4. Hot-Air Tip supplied is very good for small spot heating and loosening of Locktite'd Set-screws. 5. Hot-Air Tip with deflector makes it ideal for applying Shrink Sleeving. 6. Piezoelectric ignition is reliable and very easy to use. 7. Positive Flow Control slider which locks into the storage cap ensures that unit can be stored without accidental butane leakage. Con's: 1. Although carrying case holds almost everything needed for field use, it would be nice to have a dedicated pocket for a small supply of Solder.

Really Excellent Tool; Don't Waste Money on Cheap Alternatives.
One of those tools that- once you've bought it- you don't know how you ever lived without it. I initially planned on just getting one of those cheapo Radioshack butane soldering kits for the odd occasions that I need to solder wiring in my car, but was talked into this one by one of my cousins, who owns and uses an older version. I was initially hesitant because of the price, but I'm really happy I bought it. This is an exceedingly nice, well-thought-out kit. I really love the fact that it comes with a stand for the iron that clips into the case. Whats really nice is that- due to the way its angled- you can either put the iron in from the top, angled down (for soldering) or from the bottom angled up. (for when you want to heat/torch things without having to hold the tool in your hand) I also really like the fact that they give you a separate spot for the cover, so that you can store the tool with it on OR off. I initially thought I wouldn't use the hot knife, but its very useful for cutting nylon rope, as it both cuts and fuses at the same time giving you nice neat rope ends. The torch and the hot air tip are both very useful. I really like that it comes with a sponge for soldering. The butane lasts a LONG time- at least an hour. I really don't need to refill it that often, and I use it very, very often. However, note: If you don't already have a good soldering iron, and don't have an urgent need for in-the-field soldering, get yourself a good Weller soldering station first. The iron in this kit perfectly useful, mind you, but if I could do the work at my bench with my electric soldering station, I would do so every time. With butane, you always have to be mindful of the jet of heat shooting out of the exhaust port. That is the nature of all butane irons (that I know of), however. Just know what you're getting into, and you will be extremely satisfied. Would I buy this again? Yes, many times over.

Perfect Tool for Soldering Without Being Tethered to a Cord
I have owned a few cheaper butane irons over the years and when I purchased this was left wondering why I waited so long to get the right tool for the job. First, it looks, feels and performs like a professional tool. It is easy to use, heats to melting point in moments, and can operating continuously for well over an hour without a refill. The tips are top grade. The innovative cap design automatically shuts the gas off when the job is done. All in all, it is as good as it gets.

A significant improvement over wired irons, at least for general work
If you've never used a butane soldering Iron before, I'd recommend you try one. It is very nice not to have an extra wire dragging around the workplace when you are trying to get something done. Temp control is lacking compared to an electric, for obvious reasons, but you sort of learn how to manage it properly. The multiple ends on this are very useful ie theory, but so far the only real use I've seen is just messing around with them as a little homemade pen torch, though the "blower" end is actually pretty useful for heat shrink tubing in tighter environments, so long as you are careful. This seems pretty good. I've had it flare out now and again, but it always lights right back up again. This model seems relatively well made, so I'd recommend using it if you are doing inexact soldering work in places where traditional soldering irons just won't work.

Last a long time and easy to transport
Great little unit for light duty work. Working on cars and not having to deal with a cord is huge. Heat range is nice but not for large heavy work. perfect for around the house or day use like use it. This kit has lasted me over 5 years and still going strong. Use it 3 days a week for 15 min.

Bought in 2019, and still working like new in 2024
This wireless soldering iron has worked without issue since 2019. I've used it in so many projects from car wiring to computer stuff, and it works flawlessly every time. no real cons. Work as it should. Being butane-based, it took an extra minute to get super hot, but it still does a great job for the convenience.

Good all around soldering iron
I love these Weller gas soldering irons. The best thing is that it comes up to heat very quickly, no long spool up time as with electrics. Conversely it cools off quickly as well. These are very efficient with the fuel, I don't have to refill too often, you turn it on, solder, then turn it off, you don't keep it running continuously. It has a heat resistant cap, so you can toss it in your toolbox without having to wait long for cooling off. I've found I used this for all my soldering jobs and not using my electrics unless I have a long drawn out project. Another feature which is great is that it activates heat shrink tubing beautifully. Best way to do that, much better than a Bic lighter or match. There is a small "exhaust" hole you aim at the heat-shrink and boom you are done.

It's a good kit
These are awesome kits although this order (sadly) was substituted with the portosol piezo pro, burning me for $20 (I needed to replace my original case (color matters) I'm sure it's just as good even comes with more tips ( all flat ) a little variety would be nice

Muy fácil de usar y no estar esperando a que caliente como los cautines eléctricos

Love the freedom of cutting the cord. Most times I am outside working on lights on a vehicle and don't have easy access to power. This little iron solves that issue. Comes in a small case as seen in the picture. I have used it several times now with no issues of the flame blowing out or not lighting, it simply works when you need it to. I have wired a full light package on small utility trailers without the need to refill the butane although I don't leave it running when not in use. It heats up quick and I have no problems with turning it off and on again . As of so far I would recommend this product and purchase again if needed.

Best soldering iron I’ve used but like the title states the tips corrode very quickly! I’ve had irons before that don’t ignite properly, flimsy, have cheap plastic parts that are prone to breaking easily but the tips have always stood the test of time. Still I’d rather replace the tips than the unit itself which speaks volumes of this iron. Ignites instantly, you can solder within seconds, it’s very sturdy and compacts, takes very little gas yet lasts for ages, I hardly have to fill it up. 5 stars if it had better tips.
