Very pleased with this fine quality meat grinder
My wife and I have purchased electronic Panasonic products with satisfaction for more than 30 years, so we decided to give this meat grinder a try. Extremely satisfied, with first use to make ham salad (something not available commercially here, alas, any more, after the demise of Honey B on Texas Ave a couple of years ago). (Anyone reading this remenber the ham salad sandwiches at Reeves on F, then G, street in DC? Well I do, and have tried to duplicate them with this machine.) My! In any event, this is a solid, well-built, quiet (like a blender or food-processor) machine, that, properly assembled (cutter blade toward front, not back!!), will produce a great grind. For our ham salad we used the medium cutter disk, though if you want a coaser grind you can use the coarse disk. Perfection. Does not grind onions well (mush), however. Carbon steel parts (blade, disks, parts of the impeller)are NOT stainless and will require proper storage (use food-grade mineral oil available at your local pharmacy or cooking oil -- olive, peanut, etc. to coat, then store). In this age of crappy products, this one is an exception. Highly recommend! Meatballs next ...

Grinder
I read many reviews on grinders prior to purchasing this one. The cost of paying for processing a deer is getting exspensive. For summer sausage alone I paid over $80.00 this grinder worked well and was quiet. It was easy to operate and easy to clean. The sausage stuffer attachment works well. It is made in Japan, the quality is better than other choices. I am sure that the more exspensive commercial grinders do a better job. For me who using it for a few deer a year and maybe making my own ground sirloin it is great.

Quieter Than Waring Pro, Interchangeable Parts is a Nice Bonus, but is Still Quite Loud
I disagree with the reviewers that state that this model is quiet. It's not. It's relatively quiet compared to other grinders of similar design. This is why this model was purchased to replace an extremely LOUD Waring Pro. Just because it is made in Japan does not automatically make it a higher quality product than a product made in China or elsewhere. To me this is a marketing trick. This replaced a Waring Pro. The Waring Pro model is extremely loud, so this makes a nice upgrade because of the noise, and because some parts are interchangeable between the two! The analogous Waring Pro (I suspect this is a copy of that design, or Waring copied someone else's similar design, and then Panasonic copied that as well, etc.) is more powerful but much MORE LOUD. Waring Pro is so LOUD that you need to wear ear protection. This one, however is still quite loud, but less than the Waring model at the trade-off of some power (not a problem for most people I suspect), and the lack of the motor reverse feature. This Panasonic model is a little harder to clean and get unstuck without the motor reverse, however the decrease in noise and a slightly better aesthetic of the design are worth the upgrade. I would still recommend ear protection if you are going to use this for prolonged periods of time, especially if you already suffer from hearing loss as you are more vulnerable to further hearing damage. I guess the loudness problem in gear reduction in these types of grinders is hard to solve while making them economically feasible at the same time (or perhaps it is simply ignored by the engineers).

well built and powerful
Used it a couple times so far but overall impression is good. Well built and powerful. Easy to take apart and wash but metal parts lose their shine in dishwasher, not a big deal. Update. Tree years running strong. We use it once or twice a month for 2-5 lb. I store knives wrapped in the piece of paper towel slightly soaked with the cooking oil. No rust. The aluminum parts turned dark quickly after being washed in the dishwasher, not as shiny as new but doesn't affect the functionality at all. Good reliable product for occasional use.

Dont stick your meat in anything else
Purchased this meat grinder to make a coarser grind for my chili, using different types of cuts of beef. It performs very well. It is super easy to set up and also to clean. You won't be disapointed.

Nice and very quiet grinder
Some reviewers said that 180 W motor is too weak, but it's not. Of course, it's not a good idea to chop frozen meat or bones, but it's absolutely decent to deal with chicken, turkey and beef. Also it's really super quiet, much quieter than you'll expect from the meat grinder. As for the rust problem - we always used to clean the grinder immediately after grinding and never used dishwasher. Maybe it's a little bit old school, but as a nice little habit to wash the grinder it with liquid soap and dry up with rag, then place back on the shelf. Anyway, it stays nice and clean. No problem at all.
