Vitamin K2: The Missing Nutrient for Heart and Bone Health - Kindle edition by The International Science and Health Foundation. Download it once and read it on your Kindle device, PC, phones or tablets. Use features like bookmarks, note taking and highlighting while reading Vitamin K2: The Missing Nutrient for Heart and Bone Health. Review: Brillant MUST READ - Such important information. This is a thin book (perfect for notes and marking points you like) and easy to read. The subject is vital and he makes it easy to understand and absorb. He provides places for you to jot down things you think of and may want to research. Excellent book. Everyone needs this information... My one issue with the book is that he constantly tells you to discuss things with your doctor. I have tried on several occasions! My doctor has no training in nutrition and has no training and vitamins. She tells me to take 1200 mg of calcium. Well, that’s way too much to take it one time! and dangerous and down right wasteful. Also if you try to dissolve most calcium tablets in acidic liquid like vinegar or lemon juice they should dissolve in 30 min—her recommended brand (sold at the pharmacy) was still whole after 3 DAYS. —Anyway, leave it to say that the whole industry has some bad players and you need to do LOTS of research!!! Especially on dosage, absorption and combination. After that you have to deal with the tsk-tsk of the pharmaceutical industry and a few doctor eye rolls. So… in reality this book has information that is vital.. and, in addition, might encourage you to clean up your diet and exercise too! It’s a win win and you will be so grateful you spent the $ for this book. Keep reading and learning—and stay well. Review: Solid information on vitamin K. - Well written and well researched, this is a good comprehensive look at vitamin K. The doctor recommends supplementing with calcium and magnesium along with vitamin K. One point I would add to the information in the book is that the best way to get calcium is through your diet. This requires some research into calcium levels in food. If you choose to take a supplement, do not take calcium carbonate. It is very poorly absorbed. Use calcium citrate malate, or another more readily utilized form. Do your research. The best way to take magnesium is by using magnesium oil. It is transdermal and by rubbing it into your skin you will get the most "bang for your buck." You should also take vitamin D (also recommended in the book) in the D3 form only.

Solid information on vitamin K.

Great applicable information
Terse, informative, and readable, Dennis Goodman places great emphasis on the need of Vitamin K2 for proper bone strength, aging, and health. Osteopenia and osteoporosis are degenerative bone diseases but a combination of vitamin K2, vitamin D, and calcium can prevent these conditions from occurring. Often times, we hear about vitamin K1, which is important for blood coagulation but does little in going beyond that to perform the same functions as K2. The mineral calcium relies on K2 for proper absorption to bones. To aid in strong bones and healthy aging vitamin K2 is required to maintain homeostasis between keeping coronary and blood vessels calcium free and maintaining strong bones. In order for vitamin K2 to be able to properly perform this function, it would need vitamin D to pull calcium from the gut into the bloodstream. Goodman is clear and intentionally repetitive throughout the book, allowing the information to stick for the reader. Great, applicable information.

A MUST READ BOOK FOR ANYONE AT RISK FOR HEART DISEASE OR OSTEOPOROSIS
This is an important book. Everyone age 40 or older should read it. It may help you prevent a heart attack, and it may help you avoid spending your golden years crippled by osteoporosis. Dr. Goodman recommends the Japanese food natto because it contains more vitamin K2 than any other food source. He also warns that most Westerners will not like natto's taste and texture. Nonetheless, you should at least try it a few times. I am a Westerner and have been eating natto every day. It is an acquired taste, like tobacco. You may not like it the first time you try it, but you will soon grow to love it. It is easy to find in any large US city, just look for a Japanese grocery store. You can easily find online videos that show you how to use prepare and eat it.

Informative but requires better editing
Useful & highly informative but it could do with a more ruthless editing. It's a short read but could have been made even shorter..

Great effect
Great introduction to get information we need. It,s my cure in joints problem. K2 and magnesium, both together I,ve been taking for last 7 months. I had no possibility to even lift a glass of water with my left hand because of calcification problem and bone spur fracture in elbow. Calcifications are lost now, fractured bone spur in elbow is fully absorbed. I was climbing on a hillside using chains mounted in the rock in beautiful polish Tatra mountains a week ago. I thought it was no longer possible but I found a cure. The only souvenir of my illness is not optimistic x-ray picture. My doctor said that there was nothing to be done with my problem except of ultrasound treatment. His method has no possibility to remove the real cause. Human body need a way to balance. Fighting with a secondary symptoms is a waste of time. We need a doctor who is able to find a cause and treat it.

A useful, easy-to-read booklet
A useful little booklet for the general public. It describes vitamin K2 in most of its known details (we know very little about it!) and is nicely structured with summaries for each chapter. My only complaint is that it, like many books, gives the impression that a simple supplement of K2, and perhaps magnesium and vitamin D, is sufficient and that calcium is mostly detrimental. The evidence is that we are borderline deficient in most vitamins and minerals and taking single vitamins may actually increase the need for others.

Muito interessante. Resume achados sobre a vitamina K2, a osteoporose e as doenças cardiovasculares. Para quem lê em inglês, é um livro bem objetivo e prático.
