ABA/AARP Checklist for Family Caregivers: A Guide to Making It Manageable Paperback – May 11, 2015

This AARP and American Bar Association book by Sally Balch Hurme appears to be another in the Hurme series on end of life issues. It is advertised as having all the checklists available online. However, I've found only the 1st 3 chapters available online. There are 11 chapters. The initial To Do checklists and My Action checklists are not included in the brief excerpt. The advantages of having the checklists online are probably obvious. The ability to print the checklists and add them to a notebook along with the accompanying documents is key to the instructions given in the Introduction. Of course, the checklists can be used directly in the book itself, however that makes it difficult to use the book for more than one person, and certainly would benefit from a binding that lies flat instead of the ordinary paperback style.

Being a caregiver for my spouse is more difficult yet more gratifying than I expected. It is still hard to see him suffer but this checklist gave me confidence (along with the help of medical personnel) that I could be a good caregiver for him.

Nothing really wrong with this product; I just thought it was something different than what it actually is. It's a checklist as the title states. I was hoping for a little more guidance regarding legal forms and possibly sample forms. So it is something to consider. Not the book's fault it wasn't quite what I thought it was. For some folks it might be just perfect.

This book had a lot of information that I had not thought about. I had a chance to sit down with my father and go through it so that I could fulfill his wishes and know where everything was. Excellent.

I knew most of this information, yet for those just starting out in caring for an elderly, the practical information is helpful.

Found the book and recommendations to be very helpful. In addition, it generated many thoughts and ideals and greatly help tremendously with putting together my own plans.
