Mine sticks just fine. I would say it is your phone case that is the problem.

Q: Can i mount the magnetic phone socket to the back of an otter box defender series?

I have an iPhone 12 Pro Max - with otterbox defender case. Without cutting anything. Need: - orbiter plus magnetic socket + metal ring - orbiter low profile metal plate I figured out why they discourage use on rubber-sleeve cases, bc when disengaging the magnet on phone from the magnet on whatever stand/mount, it slowly but surely pulls the adhesive apart that attaches the magnet to the back of case. So, to remedy this, the back of the hard plastic case needs to have better grip with the rubber. Instead of glueing the hard case to the rubber, I adhered the low profile metal plate as well as the magnetic ring onto plastic hard case (beneath the rubber outer sleeve). Those magnets are strong enough, when combined w/ the magnetic socket on outside of rubber case to stay on my dash mount in car. I could be wrong, but cutting any part of the outer rubber case *probably* impacts the protection that one is looking for from an otterbox defender case. Bare minimum - unless one seals the seam with an epoxy to remain water/dirtproof on the back. The rubber sleeve of otterbox doesn’t have a semi-permanent, powerful magnet on the back. The orbiter plus-size magnet wiped every magnetic strip on every card in my wallet Lolol.

Q: My iphone has a glass back. the steelie magnet doesn’t stick, even after cleaning it and waiting 24 hrs. what do i do?

Should have came with the 3m foam adhesive tape already on the back of the socket (grey adhesive or white) if it is not the 3m foam adhesive then perhaps that’s the issue, simply go to any hardware store and get a piece, cut it out and make sure u got it positioned where u want it before application bc that thing should NEVER fall off. It’s some serious adhesive, not anything like I’ve seen before. Simply amazing how hard it is to take off once on. I have a iPhone XR & use these religiously (if u will) and am about to buy another now. Will update if not the same adhesive
