Q: Is this for 1 1/2" pipe or is it for a quantity of 1 for a 1/2" pipe?

1-1/2 inch IPS, not a quantity of one for 1/2 inch.

Q: Can this be used with hose thread?

These are pipe thread which is slightly different from hose thread. However there are hose adapters out there to make the transition

Q: Does the swing valve have a spring too or just free floating? Needed for lake pump but would be horizontal, so would it still work?

The swing check valve does have a spring, but should not be an issue for the application you have described.

Q: This says it is threaded as fip...is this compatible with male npt threads?

Yes, FIP and NPT are interchangeable.

Well booster pump replacment

I needed to replace my Goulds 2HP booster pump. Turns out the new pumps no longer include a check valve. Replaced the pump, upgraded unions and piping and added Cycle Stop Valve, high pressure booster switch and 10 gallon tank kit. I can now maintain 75 PSI at 4BR, 4 bathroom house with 25GPM and run irrigation system at the same time.
