Q: I owned the 24"x18"x1.5" and it was too big for my apartment kitchen. Is this board comparable to the larger board's quality?

Yes. I have owned this board for 6 months, and I am very pleased with its quality and feel like it is the perfect size. Plenty of space to cut but easier to handle as far as washing in the sink.

Q: does the 20" x 15" 1-1/2" have hand grips? I know the 24" does

Yes it does, and I am in love with this cutting board, it sits on my countertop all the time. I never put it away

I have 2 boards. One w/juice grooves, one w/o. The boards are fabricated from pieces of wood glued together to form a larger surface. The strips vary in color from yellow-ish to brown. No 2 boards are exactly alike. Inevitably, you will have a multi-colored surface. Oiling the wood regularly keeps the color more vivid and prolongs the life of your board.
